At Ve Interactive, we’ve been making the most of tablet devices for a while now, as, we’re sure, a lot of you have. They’ve certainly improved the way we work.
For those that doubted the tablet’s place at the ecommerce table, however, this information may be hard to stomach. After an analysis of 16.2 billion visits to the websites of 150 US merchants in 2011, Adobe Digital Marketing Insights found that:
“Consumers who visit retail websites using tablet devices are more valuable online customers than those who visit websites using smartphones or traditional desktop/laptop computers.”
And we’re not just talking the odd percentage point or two, either. On average, tablet visitors spent over 50% more, per purchase, than those using smartphones, and 20% more than those using desktops or laptops. Moreover, tablet users are three times more likely to purchase from an ecommerce website than smartphone visitors, and almost as likely to do so as those on more well-established platforms.
It’s true that the total share of website visits that are made on tablets is still small, at 4%. But when you consider that the same figure was 1%, at the beginning of 2011, it’s not too difficult to predict in which direction the market share is going to move.
VeCapture and VeContact technology integrates well with desktops, laptops, smartphones and tablets. It’s up to merchants to make sure that their digital offering is ahead of the curve – consumers, it seems, aren’t going to swallow a one-size-fits-all approach to mobile optimisation anymore.
We’re now offering a bespoke mobile development service, so why not get in touch with us and find out how we can help launch you, full speed, into T-Commerce.
